5 Ways to Be Productive While Sick
Posted on April 10, 2008 by LJ

It is a sad fact that the world doesn’t stop moving when we fall ill. Whether it is the ‘flu, a cold, or something catastrophic, life goes on.
But being sick is not an excuse to stop getting things done. It is still possible to be productive while your body is healing.
Here are five ways to boost your productivity while you are sick:
#1: Get Dressed
As my mother used to say, if you’re well enough to get out of bed, you’re well enough to get dressed. And truthfully, getting showered and dressed actually makes me feel better, 100% of the time.
I always tell myself that I just have to get showered and dressed, and then if I really want to, I can lie back down. Even if it takes twice as long as usual, it never fails to make me feel more alert.
#2: Make Your Bed
Even if you know you will be crawling back into it, make your bed. The psychological boost of seeing a neat spot will make it easier to get going.
#3: Ease Your Expectations
One thing every body needs while sick is rest. So don’t set out long lists of things you are going to do. Long lists just lead to stress and disappointment.
#4: Pay Attention to Your Energy
Energy levels are important, and if you over-tax your energy, you will slow your recovery. If you feel like sleeping, do so.
#5: Remember the World Won’t Stop
The truth is that the world will not stop if we take a sick day. None of us are that important. So relax, take time to heal, and know it will all be waiting for you!
