Are You Feeling A Need To Reboot Your Life?

2012 is almost here. While I normally take this time of year to reflect on the past year, and dream up the future, this year it seems especially necessary.

For the past two months I have been barely hanging on as my commitments and projects have swallowed me up, leaving bits of unfinished tasks behind.

I need to reboot my life.

I find that in talking to people, they are also in the same boat. The rush of frantic activity seeps into our lives and we are drowning. It’s time to head for land and regroup.

How Do You Know If You Need To Reboot?

Did you ever feel you need some time off work so you can catch up with work, either at home or at your workplace?

Did you ever look at your task list and not have any idea where to start?

Did you ever find that something important completely slipped through the cracks?

Did you ever wake up in the morning and just want to go back to sleep because you know the amount of things waiting for you can’t possibly be done in a day?

Did you ever plan a vacation so you can catch up?

It’s time to Reboot.

My Experience

Right now I am in need of a very big reboot. It’s two days before my holiday vacation. I barely remembered in time to send one nephew a gift. My daughter’s gifts are not wrapped. I am behind on the blog, behind on the housework, and I haven’t touched my novel since the beginning of December.

I am overwhelmed, stressed out and irritable.

My Reboot

I have a week off from work, and I have things I am going to accomplish. Some of them will take care of outstanding items. Some of them will put me on a new track. And some of them will just be giving myself closure.

Last weekend I started working on a plan to bring my life back in line for a longer term than a week. I am asking myself hard questions. I am planning. I am eliminating.

And I’m writing it all down.

What You Can Expect

Starting next week, there will be a long series of articles on how to reboot your life. I am writing these as I am doing the steps, and I will be sharing the results with you.

You can expect to see my answers, my lists, my plans, my successes…and my failures. It’s kind of unnerving to be putting myself out there like this, but I hope that this level of openness will encourage others to look at rebooting their lives as well.
