Blog of the Week: Robert Fulghum

Continuing with my Blog of the Weeks, this week’s pick is…
Robert Fulghum is the author of many books, including All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten. He is a writer, a dancer, and an observer of humanity. And he’s really funny. In fact, the story of his murdering a cuckoo clock bird never fails to bring me to tears from laughing.
Why was Robert Fulghum chosen? His blog doesn’t put out a lot of content, but it always does one of two things: makes me think or makes me laugh. I like laughing, and I like thinking about things I’ve never considered.
He is a Unitarian-Universalist minister, and can be quite irreligious at times. I like that. I like that fact that he is up for conducting a wedding in a Halloween costume. I like that he can laugh at his own denomination. I like that he sees people in every walk of life and every situation, and can distill meaning from it. I wish I lived life like that.
There is a downside to his blog: once it is beyond four articles old, it’s gone. So there is no re-reading the archives. Which could be a good thing, if one is prone to wasting time by shuffling through past work. I could probably get lost for weeks reading his material.
Give it a look-see. He’s out in Utah right now, battling mice, and grappling with the end-of-the year. RobertFulghum.com
