Choosing Down Time Activities

Photo by anyjazz65I spend a lot of time at the computer. My job is all computer, and I find myself writing and doing other things on the computer at night. This isn’t necessarily healthy, though. I realized a couple of weeks ago that I needed to make sure my down-time activities were more deliberate, and away from the computer.

For those of us who work in IT, it is easy to sit in front of a computer all day and all night. Even if we are not working, there are still millions of items that can take our attention online. By deliberately choosing other activities, we can get rid of these time sinks.

What are you going to do today away from the computer?

    Buy some food?
I don’t have found yet anything to do away from the computer.

:) I challenged my co-workers a couple of years ago to go an entire weekend without their computers. One was honest: “I really don’t think I could do that.” And it was hard for me to get away as well.
