Wednesdays are software days at SimpleProductivity blog.
Most people have a few software programs that they use all the time. One way to quickly start applications from the keyboard is to assign a keyboard shortcut.
Creating Keyboard Shortcuts
To show you how this works, I am going to walk you through creating a keyboard shortcut for the Calculator.
- Open the window with the application short cut in it. For the calculator, this will mean going to the Start menu, right-clicking on Accessories, then choosing Open All Users. This will open the window with the calculator shortcut. (This means that the keyboard shortcut will also apply to all users of the computer)
- Open up the properties. You can either right-click on the Calculator icon and choose properties, or highlight the Calculator and press Alt+Enter.
- Assign the shortcut keys. Click in the shortcut key box and press the keys you want to use to launch the program. In my case, I pressed Ctrl + Alt + Shift + C.
- Click OK. You’re done. Try it out!
