The movie The Bucket List is a movie where two terminally ill men fulfill a list of desires before they “kick the bucket”. It’s also become a buzz word in terms of personal development: people are being encouraged to make bucket lists and then move toward them.
Bucket lists differ from David Allen’s Someday/Maybe list in that they are fully thought-out goals that you are committed to achieving. The Someday/Maybe list is a place to park ideas so you don’t lose track of them, but doesn’t signify any commitment until you place it on your projects list.
I think a bucket list would be a good thing to start if you are looking at designing your life. After all, how can you know what your future life should be if you don’t know what you want to do?
