Experiment: Week-At-A-Glance

I have a confession to make. Although I have incorporated many of the Do It Tomorrow and Other Secrets of Time Management (aff) techniques into my productivity methods, I have not actually made it through the book yet.

I find that limiting what I am going to do on any given day, through the use of a closed list, helps keep me from working myself into oblivion. But I wondered about those tasks that I hadn’t committed to. Let’s say Tuesday was a lighter work day. Shouldn’t I take that time and work on some of my projects? I began to wonder if seeing a weekly schedule and the associated closed lists would help.

I went into Excel and designed a form. It can be found in the Free section, or by clicking here. It consists of one piece of paper. The top half has the schedules, the bottom, room for the closed lists.

So far I have been pleased with the results of the experiment. I can see at a glance what is going on, things I need to be prepared for, and what the load is. This coming week is light on the schedule, so I intend to spend time working on some forthcoming offerings.

Do you still use your Bonsai system for organizing your closed lists? Any modification from the GTD Bonsai document you wrote?
