Getting Ink Out
Posted on August 28, 2008 by LJ
Thursdays are tip days at SimpleProductivity blog.
Ink can get everywhere. Particularly if you are left-handed and pick up ink on your hand, which then transfers to desktops and clothing. Luckily, there is a quick method for getting out most inks.
Disclaimer: this will not work on all surfaces or with all inks. Check your surface for color-fastness and care instructions before trying this.
Removing Ink
The magic substance for removing ink is….hair spray! And the cheaper the hair spray, the better it seems to work. Here’s a great way to get rid of any leftover Aquanet that may be hanging around!
Removing Ink from a Desktop
To remove ink from a desk, liberally spray the top with hair spray and wipe up with a clean paper towel. It may take a few applications to get it all up. Rinse the area with soap and water when you’re done to get rid of the stickiness.
Removing Ink from Clothing
The hair spray trick works with limited success on clothing. When you spray with hair spray, the ink will dissolve and start to bleed over into the fabric around the original mark. If you dilute the original mark enough, you can usually remove the stain with regular laundering.
Do you have any ink-removal tricks?
