The Problem

I love being able to listen to my iPod and work. And since I usually have the thing on random, I want to be able to see at a glance what is playing. The problem is that the iPod Touch doesn’t have a build in stand, and due to its sleek design, it doesn’t prop up against stuff easily.
I did a bit of research on the web and came up with two stands that I can make with materials on hand. I’ve tried these both.
Solution 1: The Coffee Cozy Stand
You know those extra pieces of cardboard they put around cups to keep you from burning your hands? After drinking your coffee, turn it into an iPod stand.
Coffee and a Movie – iPhone Stand
I like this stand, but I haven’t gotten it to a great viewing angle for movies. It doesn’t fall over, though, and was very easy to make. It also did well with both the Touch and the iPod Classic, which is much heavier.
Solution 2: The Business Card Stand
I didn’t use a business card for this one – I used the rather sturdier Employee Assistance Program card that was handed out. I made several of these and keep them in my purse. They came in handy on the long vacation flight recently.

I like this stand because it folds so flat, and the viewing angles are great. It doesn’t hold an iPod classic, though.
Sometimes the simplest solution can be found with stuff you have around your desk!
