How 10 Seconds of Writing Can Save An Hour

A little fable to demonstrate the importance of writing things down…

We are taking a trip with our Brownie troop this morning. Which requires paperwork. Lots of paperwork. I am in charge of paperwork for the troop, so it was my job to assemble the car packets.

When I got home from our meeting earlier this week, I put the packets on my desk as a visual reminder I needed to attend to them. But I didn’t write it down.

Most of what had to be done was photocopying information I already had. Which had I done it at a photocopier would have been a snap.

But since I didn’t write it down, it didn’t get done when I had access to a photocopier.

This morning I realized that I still needed to do the work. So I just spent an hour using my antique scanner to photocopy paperwork that had I done it previously would have taken five minutes.

The moral of the story: write everything down in a place you will check.

SO true! do you find though that once you’ve written it down, you don’t forget it? Weird!
