Mondays are productivity days at SimpleProductivity blog.
With the last Gmail upgrade, they rolled out something called themes. You can set the background of your mail program to a pleasing scene. At first I thought it was just eye candy, but now I realize it’s actually a productivity tool.
The Tea House
At first I had chosen the ocean waves as my theme. But I found it hard to read the text on the left. So I went looking for a new theme. I was in a whimsical mood, so I chose “The Tea House.” It features a quiet little fox in a Japanese setting.
The fox moves across the scene as the day progresses. He picks flowers in the morning. He waters the bird bath, trims his bonsai, sweeps the house, has tea with friends, eats dinner, does Tai Chi and lights the lamps.
How The Fox Inspires Inbox Zero
Even though I have pared down my email to the point of having very little to process manually, I was still leaving things in my box after reading it.
Now, though, I have been so interested in what the fox is doing as the day progresses that I keep my inbox empty. It has inspired me as no other methodology has to keep the inbox clean.
So how many other people are using off-the-wall methods to keep their inbox clean? I can’t be the only one…share below.
