One of the things about self-improvement is the notion that we always have something to improve about ourselves. The down side to this notion is that while in pursuit of the non-reachable goal of perfection, we don’t take time to realize what we have already accomplished.

Part of simplifying your life is to know when you have enough, and to appreciate what you have. This includes appreciating yourself and your accomplishments.

Right now, think of five things you have accomplished for today. They don’t have to be great in anyone else’s eyes, but something you have done. On some days, it is an accomplishment for me to make it out of bed. If you are having that kind of day, list getting out of bed as an accomplishment!

If you cultivate this practice into a long-term one, you will find yourself noticing what you have done more often, and also what others have accomplished as well. And that should make your life a little bit sunnier.
