How To Turning Tree Lights On Without Getting Near the Tree

Fridays are tip days at SimpleProductivity blog.
My mother sends us lots of little things. One thing that we absolutely love is the tree remote.
First, a word about my tree.
We live in a house with a two-story great room. When we first moved in, we had a two foot tree. My husband decided we needed a bigger one. I had to agree. However, I didn’t realize he went into the Tim Taylor mode while shopping for one, and I neglected to go along with him.
We ended up with a 12 foot tree. Yes, you read that right. 12 feet tall.
Pre-lit, thank goodness, but the thing is massive. He ended up building a shelf above the garage door to hold it off-season. It takes both of us to get the thing up and down, as well as significant time spent on a ladder.
The tree is correspondingly large around the base, and of course, the outlet to plug it in is behind the tree. The first year we would get down on our backs and inch across the floor, trying not to get scratched by the needles, as we tried to plug the thing in. Needless to say, we didn’t plug it in often.
So when Mom sent the remote, we had hope. It plugs into the wall, and the tree plugs into it. And the remote has one button, which turns the lights on or off.

Believe me, it really does make the holiday more bright.

We too have a 12 foot tree and we bought one of the remote control things to turn it on and off. We LOVE it! Makes it so much easier! We got ours at Target a couple years ago for less than $20.00. So worth it!!
