During a recent cold snap, my daughter needed something warmer than her standard coat. She gets warm winter gear from a cousin in the north, but rarely needs it here. We save it for actual snow skiing. During this cold snap, she pulled out the ski coat, but we had trouble with the zipper — it wouldn’t go up or down without an adult yanking on it. Rather than buy a new coat that would get worn once or twice, I used an old tricks of my mother’s: soap.
How To Unstick A Zipper with Soap
To make a zipper run smoother, grab a bar of soap. It doesn’t matter what type…I used the bar of Fels-Naptha I keep in the laundry closet. Run the soap up and down both sides of the zipper, both fore and aft. Also run it over the bottom of the zipper.
Work the zipper up and down to distribute the soap. Repeat as needed.
You will find that this trick is very inexpensive, and works well.
