Mr. Clean Eraser Vs. Scrubbing Bubbles: A Showdown

Photo by twodollaIt didn’t start out to be a product showdown.

I have been happily using Mr. Clean Magic Erasers for some time to clean the bottom of our shower. The floor is textured, and the erasers were the only things that I found that would get the dirt off (not just bleach it). The only problem is using an eraser to do this takes a lot of muscular effort and about forty-five minutes to clean the shower floor and walls.

Mr. Clean Eraser Works…

I went to clean the shower floor this week and found only the remnants of an eraser in the closet. No whole ones in sight. I figured a partly clean floor was better than none, so I went to work. The eraser lasted for exactly half the shower floor. And it was like someone had drawn a line on the floor. It was painfully obvious where I had cleaned. Bright white on the right hand side, grungy gray on the left.

Enter The ScrubBub…

I went looking for products to use in my cupboard-of-cleaners, and found a Scrubbing Bubbles ScrubBubAction Scrubber scrubbing pad that I had been given. I decided that even if it made the dirt somewhat disappear, it would be worth it…just so it wasn’t so obvious I had only cleaned half of the shower.

I hooked the bubble pad up to the foam “handle” and wet the pad as instructed. I thought there was no way this was going to clean the shower floor because there was no rough side to scrub with. I started in, rubbing the pad on the shower floor…

What? No Effort?

I sat back, sure that the light was playing tricks on me. The ScrubBub took away all the dirt, with almost no effort on my part. I took the same pad and went to work on the shower sides, sure that the chemicals were just hiding the soap scum. But when I raked my fingernails across the newly cleaned surface, nothing came loose.

In Conclusion…

I have to admit, I’m sold. I rarely like “new” products because in my experience, they rarely live up to their hype. But the ScrubBub actually works.

I’ll still keep Mr. Clean erasers around. There is nothing like them for getting crayon off of painted walls. But as far as cleaning the shower, I have a new way that is a whole lot less effort.
