There are days when we are all crazy-busy. You know the feeling. You are working at a frantic pace, and people keep piling more emergencies on top of you. This article will teach you a simple and quick method to regain a little bit of mental breathing room and a bit of perspective on those days.
Note: if you have these type of days all the time, you will need a long term solution not found in this article.
Why Do A 1-Minute Meditation
Giving yourself time to breathe will allow you to spin down your mind a few notches, and give your body a chance to relax. When we are overly busy, adrenaline pumps through us. We need to step back and give our bodies some time to relax as well.
How To Do A 1-Minute Meditation
Make yourself comfortable. Put both feet on the floor, rest your hands in your lap. If you are doing this at your desk, you might want to close the door or put on headphones or give some other indication you do not want to be disturbed.
Next, close your eyes and breathe long, slow, deep breaths. Count to 4 on the inhale, and 4 on the exhale. Focus on your breathing. Repeat for thirty seconds to one minute.
If you start feeling thoughts come up, gently pull your mind away from them and tell yourself you can think them in one minute. Refocus on breathing.
Summary
Taking just a minute out to breathe and concentrate can make your body and mind relax. With that sort of break, you will be more able to keep up with your hectic day.
