Tuesdays are open loop at SimpleProductivity blog.
The Simple Dollar has a great article, ” Fifteen Tactics for Maximizing Your Investment in Reading for Personal Growth“. There are some things I hadn’t thought of before, like figuring out why a book was boring me, and the warning to not leave the library with armfuls of books.
One thing that concerned me deeply when I lived in Wisconsin was the addition of rBGH to the milk supply. It is a supposedly safe hormone given to cows to up their production. However, it was never fully tested on humans, or children. I make it a policy to avoid rBGH milk altogether, by having only organic in our house. Neat & Simple Living has an article, “Have you switched to Organic Milk & dairy products yet? ยป“, which gives some important information.
A checklist for “8 Signs Your Home is Out of Control – and What to Do About It” over at Stacks and Stacks Clutter Control Freak Blog is a good starting place. For me, #6 is the biggest trigger. If I would rather be someplace other than home, I need to look at WHY.
After a recent influx of toys, “Teaching kids to declutter their own toys | Parent Hacks” was a great reminder. I have to have a staging area, as one day “pink doggy” went out in the bin, to be picked up later that day. My daughter still cries for that animal, even though she put him in the pile. We go through regularly, but I still feel overwhelmed with her stuff sometimes.
Pick the Brain had a great set of reminders in “10 Ways to Make Your Evenings Happier, Healthier, and More Productive“. For me, #10 is a biggy: go to sleep when you feel tired. Yes, even if it is only 8:30.
