Open Loops 2/17/2009: Articles I Want To Share

Tuesdays are open loop at SimpleProductivity blog.
Parent Hacks ran an article called “Plastic Bedsheet Packaging Makes Great Playroom Storage“. These bags are the rectangular zippers ones that bedding comes in — essentially zippered boxes made out of clear plastic. I use them not only in the playroom, but also for storing seasonal items like jackets, holiday placemats and camping rugs.
Unclutterer’s article on “Study: Disorder begets disorder” cites a study that found that when things are already messy, they will get messier, but orderly areas are more likely to stay that way. It’s something to think about.
Stacks and Stacks had a somewhat useful article: “10 Ways to Keep Clutter from Taking Over“. It’s only somewhat useful in that the scope of the items are greatly different. The first five steps are huge jobs. But the tips 6, 7, 9 and 10 are good points. 6 and 7 are specific ways to keep clutter at bay in the bathroom and with magazines. 9 and 10 are general maxims: “If you walk into it or trip over it, it is clutter and either should be eliminated or moved to a spot that is convenient for use,” and “Always put something back within 2 minutes after you have finished using it.”
