Open Loops 9/22/2009: Articles I Think Worth Passing Along

Tuesdays are open loop at SimpleProductivity blog.

Mark Forster talks about “Keeping one’s markers aligned”. Lining up two landmarks will help keep you on course when you are outside. Applying that same principle to activities. What is the next marker after the one I am trying to reach? I am working on a novel that I hope will allow me to become a full-time writer. Just producing the novel without the goal of being a full-time writer doesn’t motivate me, and I make progress. But seeing what is behind it gives me an added boost.
The Positivity Blog not only gives “5 Sneaky Ways That Personal Development Information Can Screw with Your Head” (and all right on!), but also lists what you can do about it. Another excellent article.
Freelance Writing’s “Life Is What You Make It!” had a question that stopped me cold: What are you doing today to change the reality for your tomorrow?. I want to make progress on various things, but what am I actually doing to make that a reality? It really made me think.
Productivity 501 lists “Top 5 Worst Productivity Ideas”. Two important lessons: buying something won’t automatically make you more productive, and ““It doesn’t matter how efficient you are if you are doing the wrong things.”
