In the midst of chaos, sometimes the best thing to do is get a handle on calm. Conflict Zen has a great exercise over at “Four-corner breathing: simple exercise for calming yourself”

Top 7 Business ran an article “Top 7 Tips for Balancing Life and Work During the Holidays” which extends beyond the holidays. For me, #2 is important: “Know when you have done enough”.

Dumb Little Man tells us “Six Ways to Find Quiet During a Busy Day”. My first shock was “what do you mean eat breakfast without doing anything else!?!?!”. But it makes sense. The days when I start out slow and mindful go better. I’ve also been taking a rest when I get home: 15 minutes with Pzizz on my iPod Touch before my daughter gets off the bus. It makes for a much more relaxing afternoon.

I’ve never been a fan of ABC123 prioritizing. It always has seemed like a waste of time to me. OrganizeIt has a great article, “The Death Of Prioritizing”, which has the up-front summary: “Prioritizing is the medicine you take after you’ve caught a bad case of Excessive Workload or you have the painful symptoms of Lack Of Time.”

At the beginning of the new year, I have tendency to look at all the stuff that isn’t done yet. Wise Bread has the steps for getting through something hard at “How to Finish Something Hard”

  1. Thanks for the shout-out about my post! I really enjoyed the death of prioritizing post you linked to as well — spot on.
