A good reminder from those who seem to be repeating housework tasks over and over at “Changing Lives One Laundry Load at a Time” (Small Notebook). “We’re not taking care of stuff, we’re taking care of people.” I get frustrated at the amount of work I do around the house that never seems to be noticed. But it really is about taking care of my family. And taking care of me as well.

When the urge to “do something to get back on top of things” gets the better of me, I usually start decluttering. WebWorker Daily talks about a two-phase approach to getting organized by examining what isn’t working in “What’s Not Working? Tips for Better Organization”

I love Firefox. I love my extensions. I hate when I take the new version of Firefox and half my extensions stop working. Lifehacker points to an article on how to make this insanity stop for a cherished few extensions (at “Make Firefox Extensions Compatible with a Simple Hack – Firefox Tip”.

Unclutterer has a great idea called “the productive procrastination bin”. It’s basically a place where things can sit for a while, with a few rules. I love the rules concerning what can go in (it must fit and there can’t be any consequences from putting it in there) as well as a definite rule for processing (it goes on the calendar for each piece of paper, plus an overall view once a month). I like having this kind of slack built into a system.

I am all for stretching a chicken into multiple meals (which is sometimes called Rubber Chicken because it bounces back). But CheapHealthyGood took it to a new, and more delicious level, with “1 Chicken, 17 Healthy Meals, $26 Bucks, No Mayo”. Amazing. I got hungry just reading it.

When I first saw the headline “5 Big Ways to Add Time To Your Days” at DumbLittleMan I thought it would be a rehashing of stuff. But the first bullet point pulled me up short: “Drop One of Your Goals.” I fully recognize my task list is too full and I’m trying to do too much, but I needed the reminder that I need to let some things marinate for a while.

Common sense sleep tips can be found over at “9 Tips For Better Sleep – Stepcase Lifehack”. I would add an additional: shut off at least 30 minutes before bed. No computer, no television. Give your eyes and body a chance to get used to the night.
