Productivity Roadblocks or Stumbling Blocks
Posted on May 5, 2008 by LJ
I recently read an article over at DailyBlogTips called “7 Reasons You Might Never By Productive. I had mixed reaction to the article, some panic that perhaps I was falling into these traps, and then some humor.
The article simple listed the reasons why people get blocked on productivity: “you hate what you’re doing, your priorities are wrong, you’re not used to working, you are easily distracted, you take too many breaks, you have an unhealthy lifestyle, and you never seem to learn.”
I recognized myself in “you hate what you’re doing” and “you are easily distracted”. And then I began to wonder if the others applied as well, and I just couldn’t see it.
And then I began to laugh. I am highly productive, and yes, I have trouble concentrating during truly disagreeable tasks, but don’t we all? It’s all a matter of degrees. What may be major roadblocks for some are mere stumbling blocks for others.
Will this article reach the true non-producers out there? I doubt it. I doubt that anyone who “never learns” would be reading a self-improvement article.
