Ramp Down Afternoon Stress by Noticing the Sky

Fridays are tip days at SimpleProductivity blog.

This is just a simple thing that has really helped my after-work frantics. I have a very short commute most days: 10 minutes if I hit the red lights. Unfortunately, that means that I have 10 minutes to put the workday issues behind me and get ready to start my after-work life.
I’ve tried all the suggestions: listening to music, having quiet, singing, spending time alone when I get home, etc. But none seemed to work for me.
Last week I made a conscious effort to notice the things around me on the commute: people, places, things going on. But most of all, I made it a point to look at the sky.
Just focusing on that one thing while I am stopped allows me to relax faster than anything else I have tried.

I can imagine when there are lots of clouds scurrying, that it would calm me. At the moment we seem to have that blanket of dirty white!
