Sometimes I need a day to catch up. I’m in my first year as a Girl Scout leader, and it is cookie season. After spending Saturday afternoon at a cookie booth, then delivering cookies to one organization on Sunday morning, then delivering my daughter’s Sunday afternoon, I got nothing done this weekend. Sunday evening rolled around and I was exhausted, and faced with a pile of things that needed to be done. So I called in “not fit to come into work” on Monday and spent the day getting caught up. It was well worth it.

I try to leave myself notes about what I need to do the next day at work. So last Friday I dutifully made a note: ” Monday: figure out why table x is duplicating.” Only problem is that when I got to work on Tuesday, I had no idea what this note meant, or where I was in the process to cause me to notice the data duplicating. Note to self: leave less cryptic notes.

  1. Sorry to hear about the crazy weekend.

A little tip for selling girl scout cookies: find some friend / relative who currently lives on a college campus. Get them to agree to help you sell. Ship them as many boxes as you possibly can and I promise they will all be gone within 24 hours. When college students see girl scout cookies, especially late at night, they cannot help but throw large amounts of money at the bearer.

This is a great strategy. Maybe I’ll do that next year. I actually had people renege on orders of cookies this year! Luckily my co-workers have been more than willing to take up the extras.
