Overview

Manufacturer: Blue Nomad LLC
Platform: Palm
Current Version: Palm: Professional 3.2

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • One touch backup
  • Backs up to SD card directly
  • Backs up all files
  • Scheduled backups
  • Partial restores

Cons

  • It doesn’t back up/restore Wifi stuff correctly

Why Did I Buy This?

Soon after I purchased my Zire 71, we were going on an out-of-town weekend trip. I had loaded up the PDA with phone numbers, shopping lists, etc. to be accomplished on the trip. By the time we reached our destination, I found that something had sat on the power button of my Zire, and it was dead. All information had been lost. Without backup software, you only get the information that is backed up during a Hotsynch, so most application settings are not backed up.

How I Use This

I do not specifically use this in implementing a productivity system; however, it is definitely not in the mode of productivity if the projects and next action lists vanish during use.

Update 5/4/2007

I have upgraded my version of Backup Buddy, and I am really impressed with a couple of the features. Firstly, the ability to backup automatically when reaching a certain power level has saved my data on at least one occasion when my PDA decided to discharge itself in the night. The newer version will also restore the WiFi files.
