Summary

Note Studio, by Dogmelon, is a great wiki-type application that allows you to create notebooks

Overview

Manufacturer: Dogmelon
Platform: Palm
Current Version: Palm: 3.3.2

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Solid application
  • Extensible with python programming and pre-built add-ons
  • Pages and books can be encrypted
  • Syntax is easy to master
  • Saves files as text when not encrypted
  • Books and pages are exportable
  • Great desktop component

Cons

  • A bit expensive
  • The built-in HTML export does some funky stuff when the source is browsed

Why Did I Download/Buy This?

I bought this because it was so highly recommended on one of my mailing lists. I didn’t think I would end up using it as a productivity system, but rather as a place to organize notes.

How Do I Use This?

Notestudio is my mainstay at work. Everything goes in there, from projects to notes to timesheets to reference materials. At home, I use it for blog writing, notetaking, and reference material. I learned some Python to extend some add-ons, and most of my system is automated.

Sorry, not available

I was very disappointed when Dogmelon decided to stop selling Notestudio last year. I really think it was one of the best pieces of Palm software out there.
