Summary

Sudoku, by Astraware, is a Sudoku puzzle with a built in solver and generator.

Overview

Manufacturer: Astraware
Platform: Palm
Current Version: Palm: 1.3.0

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Downloadable puzzle expansion packs
  • Easy to use
  • Can generate puzzles at a variety of levels
  • Can enter own puzzles to solve
  • Hints…or not

Cons

  • Uses a lot of power
  • Some unnecessary features
  • Only one “pack” of puzzles at each level can be installed at once

Why Did I Download/Buy This?

I was bit hard by the Sudoku bug. I love logic puzzles and number puzzles anyway, and Sudoku is just the best of both. I wanted an application that was going to allow me to create puzzles on the fly and not limit me to built in. I chose Astraware because I have other products from them and they have always been high quality.

How Do I Use This?

Well, I use this to play Sudoku. :)

There’s another Sudoku app (by Andrew Gregory, it’s googleable) that I prefer. It’s fairly slow at generating new puzzles and there’s no difficulty setting, but it will never run out of puzzles and it’s free and stable. You can also enter your own puzzles and save any number of games. The only reason it uses so much power is because I play so much :) , actually it dims the screen while generating.
