Why Did I Download/Buy This?

Living very close to the ocean and a tidal river, I needed to have some idea of when the tides were. Going out in a canoe at the wrong time can mean getting stuck in a stinking ooze of decaying matter. While this tool is not 100% accurate, it is accurate enough for my uses.

How I Use This?

I have used this to find out when high tide will happen during “rain events” (otherwise known as nor’easters. If a “rain event” and high tide happen, I need to make plans to work from home, as our approach may flood and become impossible.

I have also used this tool to help an environmental group I belong to decide when to do a cleanup of the waterways. We aim for a low tide on a weekend at a reasonable time. This tool will help us figure out when that will happen.
