Wednesdays are simplicity days at SimpleProductivity blog.
Reader Rachel asked for a picture of the IKEA charging station I mentioned in 8 Productivity Stations Every Home Should Have. Here is my simple charging station, with explanations of how I made it.
Supplies: The Box and Extension Outlet
The materials I used to make this came out of my “local” IKEA (which is actually 3 hours away).
The 3 outlet extension is small enough to fit in most boxes, and I found it in the electrical section.
The Forhoja box was in the office supply area, and contained two pencil boxes as well. I chose this box because I knew I would only have to drill one hole, the height of the box would contain my Kindle charger and the top is big enough to support the charging devices.
Setting Up The Box
When I got it home I put a paddle bit in the drill and made a hole big enough for the plug of the exention outlet.
Next I put the extension outlet in the box, and my chargers.
The Station In Action
With the cover on, the cords come out of the designed hole in the back.
It fits well on my nightstand, and I no longer have to worry about a tangle of cords!
